Eclipse Muto is orchestration middleware for adaptive ROS: it models the software stack running on a robot or vehicle as a live, declarative graph that can be introspected, composed and reconfigured remotely — at runtime.

How Muto works

Muto Composer

Declarative stack definitions describe what should run on each vehicle. The Composer resolves, composes and dispatches them — the same stack model from the bench to the fleet.

Muto Agent

A lightweight agent on the vehicle executes pipelines, reconfigures the ROS graph at runtime, and reports live state back over standard protocols.

Open governance

Muto is developed in the open at the Eclipse Foundation, under the Software-Defined Vehicle working group — vendor-neutral, Apache-licensed, and built to outlive any single supplier.

Provenance

A founding contribution to Eclipse SDV

Composiv is a founding member of the Eclipse Software-Defined Vehicle working group, and Muto is one of its projects — bringing robotics orchestration to SDV. The same middleware drives our own MutoATT autonomous tow trucks in production.
